Video Games
There have been two video game releases based on Watase's manga series, both of them from Fushigi Yuugi. One detailed the events from Genbu Kaiden, while the second release focused on the original FY gang. Both games are dating simulators, where you play as a "Mary Sue" type character, and your decisions throughout the game will dictate your results, and inevitably who you will end up with. The first game "Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden: Kagami no Miko" was released June 22, 2005. The second game Fushigi Yuugi: Suzaku Ibun, was released May 29, 2008. Both games were released for the Sony PlayStation 2. Genbu Kaiden: Kagami no Miko, was later re-released for the Sony PSP. And then both games were combined and released for the Nintendo Ds system. Both games have been released in standard and limited editions.

Drama Cd
2006 Calender
|
This is the Special limited edition version of the game. This version contains the Standard edition of the game (which includes the disc and manual), and two bonus items! A drama CD, and a desk calendar (from the year 2006!) the calendar features all new illustrations featuring characters from the game (check out the calendar/posters page to see all the images!). All these items are tucked nicely in the limited edition box (image shown to the left). Again, this version is Region 2 only, and do not work on Region 1 PlayStation players. All bonus material and game is in Japanese. |
Psp edition
released: 9/28/2006 |
Ah ... the Psp version of Kagami no Miko. The Psp version is the same as the PlayStation release, with one very important exception. Psp players are not region coded! That's right! while the game is in Japanese, if you own a Psp system you can play this game (it doesn't matter what part of the world you live in!) This is the version that I have played, and its a very cute game. And even if you do not know how to read Japanese, the game play is simple and can be enjoyed to its fullest. |

And then there was the Nintendo DS version. Released in 2009, the Nintendo release combined both Kagami no Miko, and Suzaku Ibun into one game! They also released both a standard version, and a Special limited edition version. The Limited edition version includes a drama cd. From my understanding, like the Psp version, Nintendo Ds games are not region coded, so theoretically speaking, you should be able to play this game on any version of the Ds system. I unfortunately have not had the opportunity to play this version of the game, so I can not confirm if this is the case. Either way, this is an excellent way to get both versions of the game!
